hand in icebucket, and rooftop mystery

May 1st, 2010 Posted in Dreamlogue | Comments Off

I had the craziest dream last night…

It starts out with my dad cutting his hand off in a freak table saw accident. He gives me the hand and tells me to put it in a bucket of ice and stick it in my freezer because he’s too busy to deal with it now. I just happen to have a metal ice-bucket sitting on my kitchen island and put the hand in as ordered. The hand is rubbery, and bloodless and there is nothing unusual about the whole ordeal as if this is a typical occurrence.

Scene changes, now I’m in a nightclub with friends. People are acting really really strange, crying for no reason and talking but not making any sense. We all agree we need to get out of there so we hail a cab outside. The cab is tiny and having a lot trouble moving along the dirt road because apparently now I’m a 3rd world country with unpaved roads. The driver keeps complaining about how slow the car is and starts pointing to the upper right corner of the windshield. That side keeps fogging up, and we all agree that there is a person on the roof of the car and they are breathing hard enough to fog up the windshield. The driver is visibly frightened and doesn’t want to get out of the car. Instead he tries to drive faster hoping the person will jump off or fall off. We hear a faint voice and the windshield keeps fogging up. We go up this ridiculously steep hill, get over the crest and descend into a park below. The person or whatever it is is still on the roof, now we all are wondering if maybe the person is injured and unable to move. Finally the driver stops the car at the bottom of the hill, deciding to see what the hell is up on the roof….then I wake up.

After all that suspense, I’ll never know what was on the roof. I hate dreams that end abruptly. It’s not like I can rent the sequel.

Recently Launched

My new company’s site for unique eco-friendly vegan accesories and apparel was recently launched. Check it out at: Üka

if you are wondering what Üka means, well it is simply my family nickname given to me by my oldest brother James when I was about 4 or 5. To this day my siblings still call me Üka…so I went with it. I design and construct all the merchandise in my store. Most of it is one of a kind, so check it out.

And finally I have updated my fine art site once again: erikathorpe.com

Apoligies and what’s going on

June 18th, 2009 Posted in News | 1 Comment »

I have been incredibly busy working on my new accessory and apparel line among other things like art shows and trying to survive in this crazy economy, so I apoligize for not keeping my blog up to date. I wanted to write a little about what I’ve been up to these days and give a sneak peak at what’s happening behind the scenes before my brand’s official launch. I started a small company called Üka. I design and create vegan/eco-friendly bags, purses, jewelry and t-shirts. What it means to be vegan and eco-friendly is that no leather is used in the construction of my bags ( I either use fabric or synthetic leather alternatives) also the inks used in the printing of my t-shirts are waterbased and not harmful to the environment. I work with other vendors that I feel are committed to providing environmentally safe products. Here is a look at a couple of items I will have to offer.

I’m getting ready to move into a new apartment. I’ll be closer to the beach and to work and to better bike paths and trails…so I’m quite happy….But I still have so much sorting and organizing to do. Will try to post more pictures of Mexico and such when I get settled.
