doors down is the umbrella site of all my online projects and acts as my design and multimedia portfolio.

The name "5 doors down" developed from a reflection upon the physical distances which seperate humanity, and how despite these distances the internet connects the world in such a sense that we are always just a few steps away from each other in this virtual neighborhood. I wanted a name that spoke to this proximity but that also alluded to the concept of passage. Like doors that either beckon or block entry, all experiences (real or virtual) are like passages from one state to the next. And like doors, the pages in a book are passages leading us to different states of a story and likewise to different states of an experience. These are the ideas that evoked the two juxtaposing visual symbols behind the 5dd design concept. I also really liked the idea of a scrapbook to showcase my varied and eclectic collection of projects.
